Girona

Girona is a lovely small city further inland in Catalonia. Getting there from Barcelona takes about an hour, driving along the main highway to France, and like many other highways in Europe, this one still follows the path of the old Via Augusta that the Romans built over 2,000 years ago. We can profit from the trip to provide context on Catalonia’s history, language, culture, and gastronomy.
In Girona, we recommend you visit the interesting Cathedral, with one of the largest one-arch naves from the Middle Ages, and a very interesting cloister.

Another recommendation is to visit the Museum of Jewish History to broaden your knowledge of Judaism in medieval Catalonia. The museum is located at the very heart of the medieval Call (Jewish quarter from the Middle Ages).

If you prefer, we can have a nice walk around the old city, with its medieval buildings and narrow streets, enjoying the views from the top of the Cathedral stairs, or walking down some of the narrowest streets typical of old cities  We highly recommend having lunch in Girona; there are many mouth-watering options, especially if you want to try traditional Catalan cuisine.

Girona is known for being the set of the very famous Tv show, Game of Thrones. Imagine the Great Sept at the bottom of the Cathedral steps, or Ayra Stark fighting along the old streets and corridors, or find out where the Bravos Baths were located…
