All Dalí: Dalí Museum & Púbol Castle
On the Dalí Museum & Púbol Castle tour, we will visit two important places related to the genius Catalan artist Salvador Dalí. This is a tour for both true Dalí fans and people interested and curious to discover the inner world of Salvador Dalí.
The Dalí Museum and the Castle of Púbol are both situated north of Barcelona, in the Empordà region where he was born and which inspired many of his works. We will dive into the depths of the subconscious and surrealist world of the artist.
The Castle in Púbol dates back to the 14th Century and was Dalí’s gift to his wife Gala, his muse since they met in Cadaqués in 1929. Dalí remodeled an ancient medieval castle for her and decorated it with his works. The result is a mysterious, private place with decorations and objects designed by the great artist. It has been open to visitors since 1996. Gala was buried in it in 1982.
We’ll then drive to Figueres to visit the great Dalí Theatre-Museum, which opened in 1974, and is considered to be the artist’s biggest creation, with both the interior and the exterior of the building displaying Dalí’s great works of art. It’s quite a big museum, and we’ll make the most of our visit by concentrating on some of the most interesting art pieces that Dalí himself chose to be displayed in the museum, some of which were made by him and others of which were made by other artists following his instructions.
We can have lunch in Figueres or at some quaint village between Púbol and Figures.
