A guided visit to the Crypt of the Colonia Güell is an excellent complement to the Sagrada Familia visit. This not finished church (yes, another Gaudi church that was never finished) shows us some early solutions that Gaudí was improving to use later at Sagrada Familia. The stone columns, the use of concrete, and the hyperbolic shapes are some examples.
But we will not only learn about Gaudí, but we’ll also get to know who was Eusebi Güell, Gaudi’s main Maecenas, and one of his many businesses, the textile factory and the town where all the workers lived. On a nice walking tour, we’ll discover the location of the former school, the doctor’s house, the theater…
We’ll use the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, about 20 minutes from plaça de España to the Colonia Güell. Once we arrive, we’ll walk for about 10 minutes to the Museum for an introduction to the history of the Colonia Güell. Afterward, we’ll visit the Crypt ( we take care of all the ticket reservations) and a walk around the town before returning to Barcelona.
You can combine the Colonia Güell visit with Montserrat (also using public transportation) with a winery at the Penedés region or during spring, summer, and fall with a visit to Sitges (we need a car for these two tours).

- How do I pay for the tour?
- We use Paypal and SumUp ( you do not need to have an account, you can pay with any credit card). You can pay for the tickets on the same day as the tour.
- Do I have to buy the tickets?
- No, we will take care of buying the tickets for you.
- Where do we meet?
- The guide will pick you up at your hotel or apartment.

- 10 euros for the train if you are 4 or less.

- Is it kids friendly?
- A tour outside the city is always kid-friendly, plus they get to ride a train and visit a not-so-usual church and a town with almost no cars.

- Public transportation is adapted to mobility issues; once we get there, there’s a significant amount of walking.

Go small you won’t regret it
Carolina was our guide to Montserrat and under her exceptionally pleasant guidance, we walked to the top and took the funicular railway down. It was quite a nice hike up that apparently few undertake, preferring to take the rail up and walk down as an option. The solitude, vistas, and plant life were beautiful

Best way to start our Trip !!!!
We signed up for the Highlights tour on our first full day in Barcelona and it was the perfect way to start our trip. Carolina was a great and patient guide and she really helped us get our bearings. We saw a few different areas of the city, learned a lot about each neighborhood, and ended up with a great tour of La Sagrada Familia.
