Description

Montserrat & Cava

Montserrat & Cava is a great combination that will show you the spectacular inland landscapes of Catalunya.

Visiting Montserrat and the vineyards region of el Pendès is a very nice option for a city break.

At Montserrat, we will visit the Church and the Monastery area. On this mountain shrine, the monks have worshiped since the 12th century an image of the Virgin Mary “Our Lady of Montserrat,” named after the mountain. You will love the drive up the mountain with our expert drivers, and on the way back we will show you some of the most famous rock formations with funny names like the “camel”.

On the way to the vineyards, there are so many great restaurants for you to have lunch and we will give you the option to choose from a wide range of wine & cava producers to visit afterward.

The Penedès region is mostly known for its Cava production. We use the word “Cava” for its sparkling wines because “Champagne” can only be produced in the Champagne region of France. However, we produce about 200 million bottles of cava per year, including a growing interest in organic winemaking practices, a specialty of the area. Good news is that it is becoming easier to get them all around the world, some of the producers we visit export worldwide.

We can do this tour in this order, or we can change it, visiting a winery first, then getting lunch in a nearby town or at a farmhouse restaurant at the foot of Montserrat’s mountain, before visiting Montserrat at the end of the tour. Both ways guarantee a beautifully pleasant day trip.
