A Painter and an Architect (Picasso & Gaudí)
Picasso & Gaudí two amazing geniuses that you can enjoy during your visit to Barcelona. They lived in the same city during one of the most exciting moments of Barcelona, the end of the 10th century. The Picasso Museum and the Sagrada Familia cannot be missed during your visit to Barcelona.
La Sagrada Familia is the most visited touristic sight in Barcelona and Spain. With your licensed guide, you’ll have priority access to both Sagrada Familia and Museo Picasso.
During this tour, we’ll visit the only museum dedicated to Picasso open when he was alive. His love for Barcelona and the friendship with Jaume Sabartés made it possible. The museum is located in one of the medieval quarters of Barcelona, la Rivera or El Born. The Museum opened the doors in 1963 with only one building “Palau Aguilar” a 14th c. house. Adding during all these years the next 4 ones that are one next to each other. The permanent collection is mostly a donation of Picasso himself, his friend Sabartes and his last wife Jacqueline Roque. Focusing on his early works, the Blue Period, an interesting collection of ceramics and the series “Las Meninas”.
The Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882, Gaudí became the architect in 1883 and worked there until his death in 1926. During his lifetime he was able to finish the crypt that the first architect had started, the abyss wall and the Nativity Façade. Everything else has been built after his death. The main altar was not finished and consecrated until 2010 by Pope Benedict. Once we are inside the Church, we can see an incredible forest of columns with an amazing light entering the central nave from the colorfully stained glass windows.
